Laura Harvey’s “Heat Wave”

Artist Statement

As a mixed media artist, I create intricately layered collages on a variety of substrates: from canvas and traditional birch panels to hollow-core doors. To intuitively create each piece, I draw from an ever-evolving collection of media and vintage ephemera, building layers using paint, papers (found, purchased and hand painted), acrylic mediums, graphite, photo transfers and more. I derive a storyteller’s satisfaction watching each piece evolve during the creative process – from the initial blur of an idea to a completed visual.
