DESCRIPTION:Call for Art\nRegister Jan 18 – Feb 16\, 2025\n\n\n\n\nPlymouth Center for the Arts is proud to present its 11th annual photography competition that recognizes the unique position mobile devices play in the production of creative images. These devices offer the prospect of spontaneous photos\, an artistic workflow and a multitude of easily available creative applications. Mobile devices\, particularly cell phones exemplify the old adage\, “The best camera is the one you have with you.” \nWe invite photographers of all ages to submit their best images taken with a mobile device (phone\, tablet\, laptop or iPad) to this distinctive photography exhibit. \nThis is a non-themed\, juried show. \nPlymouth Center for the Arts membership is not required for entry. \nJudge: To be announced \n\nVIEW PROSPECTUS click here \n\n\n\nGeneral Information and Important Dates –\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJan 18 – Feb 16 – Register online through Smarter Entry.\nplymouthguild Competitions / Calls for Entry \n\nEntry fee: $15 for the first image\, $10 for each additional entry.\nMaximum entries per artist is 15.\nRegistration fee refunds or credits for future shows will not be issued.\n\nFeb 26 – Selected images and awardees are published on website by 5pm\, EST. Show registrants will be notified by email of list publication.\nMar 5 – Apr 4 – Award winners will be displayed in gallery.\nMar 5 – Selected images will be available for viewing in our on-line gallery at ArtsPlymouth.org.\nApr 3\, from 6 – 8pm – Awards will be presented during a combined reception with our “Spring it On! SUMMARY:"The Flowers of Evil"
DESCRIPTION:Join us in celebration of the works by Scott Ketcham\, on display January 4 – February 22 at the Ventress Memorial Library. The opening reception will take place Friday\, January 10\, 5:30-7:30pm. \nStatement from Artist: My recent oil paintings are freely inspired by 19th-century French poet Charles Baudelaire’s radical verses from his revolutionary collection\, Les Fleur du Mal. I find stimulation in Baudelaire’s lush\, seductive language conjuring jarring juxtapositions of naïveté and corruption\, indulgence and malaise\, vitality and melancholy. Through these works I have endeavored\, like Baudelaire\, to extract beauty from evil. These are not pretty florals; they are influenced by the mood that pervades these poems– infatuating beauty mixed with quiet despair. All titles of paintings in this exhibit are quotations from Baudelaire’s poems.  \nBiography: Scott Ketcham is a figurative painter with a studio at the Sandpaper Factory in Rockland\, MA. He was a student of William Schultz\, Clement Micarelli\, and many others; he holds a Bachelor of Arts from Williams College and a Master of Fine Arts from Johnson State University.
