See more information below. \n  \nFor Shoppers \nJoin us for Holiday fun and festivities! Music\, bar\, snacks and more will be available at the Preview Party on Friday\, November 3\, 6-8pm. The Preview Party is a fundraiser as well as an opportunity for shoppers who want to get first dibs on artwork! Shoppers are also welcome back Saturday\, November 4\, 10am-3pm\, and Sunday November 5\, 10am-2pm\, free admission. \n  \nFor Artists \n\nThe art sale is open to members and nonmembers. Artists may submit up to 25 pieces of work of any medium – oil\, watercolor\, acrylics\, photography\, etc. – framed or unframed. Please note: works previously submitted to any NRAS art sale are not eligible for entry. Prints or giclees are allowed but must be clearly marked as such. \nWorks must be priced within the range of $35.00-$399.00. Please keep your prices reasonable to encourage sales. Each artist may also submit one piece to the “Gallery on Stage\,” which is devoted exclusively to higher priced paintings over $400.00. In an effort to promote sales of stage pieces\, these works will be offered at 10% discount during the Preview Party event only – discount to be shared by NRAS and the artist. All work must be submitted using the enclosed form. \nThe fee for artist participation in the sale is $30.00 – includes entry for (1) person at the Preview Party. In addition\, for each piece sold\, the split will be 70% to NRAS member artists and 30% to NRAS. Non-member artists split will be 50/50. You may become a member online or in person during drop off. As I study a scene\, my attention is always drawn to light and its effects. I strive to capture the luminosity in a variety of ways. As I paint\, I build the surface of my work by applying multiple layers of oil paint (and sometimes cold wax)\, retaining previous marks and colors\, while leaving trace results of others\, or obscuring them altogether. My approach strives to create a depth and history which results in a complex and nuanced surface of color\, harmony and balance. \nThis Event is made possible by the North River Arts Society

DESCRIPTION:This 1-day workshop is a fun and playful class to loosen up and create an abstract portrait of your pet\, or any animal\, into a colorful and patterned version using simple paint and collage techniques. Students will learn how to use organic shapes and acrylic paints to create their pet portrait in an intuitive way. \nThis workshop is for beginners and seasoned artists. It is a non intimidating way for a beginner to gain confidence and have fun while learning new techniques. For the seasoned artist\, it is a way to play and use intuition without pressure of “hard rules.”   \nAbout the Instructor: Tracy Allegro \nTracy is a contemporary mixed media artist from Quincy\, Ma. A lifelong lover of art\, she graduated from University of Massachusetts at Boston and also studied art at The Art Institute Of Boston and The School Of The Museum Of Fine Arts in Boston. A lot of Tracy’s work features collage and she is inspired by nature\, flowers\, people and animals. In addition to working from her home studio\, Tracy also teaches in-person classes and participate in artisan events and gallery exhibits. \nMaterials List: \n\nAcrylic Paint – your favorite colors plus red\, yellow\, blue\, black and white\nMark Making Tools – variety of pens\, colored pencils\, china markers or regular markers\, pastels\, ink\, crayons\, etc.\nPapers to paint on – anything from mixed media paper\, newsprint\, old book pages\, deli paper\, etc. It’s good to have an assortment and Tracy will have some to choose from as well.\nPaint Brushes – 5 or so not expensive acrylic brushes in assorted sizes.\nStencils and stamps – bring what you have and Tracy will ave some as well.\nMatte or satin gel medium – whatever you have\, Tracy uses liquitex.\nPlease bring a reference photo of a portrait or full body picture of your pet or an animal in color that you’d like to use. Try to choose a clear photo if you can.
